The idea of the family dinner table is very important to the image of a good home and happy family. what close-knit family doesn't meet every evening to enjoy dinner and socialize with eachother? in reality though, i think most families only use the dinner table during important holidays. i know my own mom goes to great lengths to make our dining room look warm and inviting. an outsider would get the impression that we spend a great deal of time there. in reality, it's more for show than anything else.

ReplyDeleteyeah that could play into it a lot. i know some members of my family always looked down upon an aunt i have because she never ever cooked a meal. it was always "fend for yourself" or takeout.
